In 2014 Ádám Kerényi has become again champion in the „pro” category of King of Europe.
It is a fantastic achievement and we can be rightly proud of it. Ádám talked about his memories, experiences and plans as follows….
CAG: This is already your third championship in the series of KOE. Do you feel the victory is a burden of „expectation” for you?
Kerényi Ádám: Unfortunately I always feel like this. My first racing at KoE happened in 2007 and since 2009 I have been competing in this series during the whole season. I am the oldest KoE competitor so far, therefore many people expect us to be in the forefront.

CAG: Who were the competitors mostly complicating your job this year?
Ádám Kerényi: Francesco Conti has been my biggest rival already for many years, however, my other rivals are also continuously getting stronger and better. It is Adam Frank who has mostly developed since last year and we have to count seriously also on him in the future.
CAG: Are there pilots in the European field you like especially to fight with?
Ádám Kerényi: There are no particular persons, I like all struggles where it is possible to drive well and, of course, it depends also on the rivals and the field.
CAG: This season did not work out easily as the motor gave up just at the race of Tököl. What was the concrete trouble and how could you solve the problem so quickly?
Ádám Kerényi: Unfortunately after more than 2.5 years the screw of the driving rod splitted in two and consequently the whole motor got totally damaged from the bottom to the top. I use a S38 M5 motor which is very rare, therefore it is rather difficult to purchase both manufacturing and race service parts. Fortunately we have very good supply channels and everybody understood that we did not have much time and they delivered quickly. It is illustrative of the rarity that BMW has only 3 of this new blocks throughout Europe and unfortunately we had to buy one of them…
CAG: You had to keep your fingers crossed even also before the last race as should the devil of technique play tricks on you and should you not be able even to start off with your car, your championship could have been lost…
Ádám Kerényi: Now my car has become ready well in time as one day before the start the only thing to be done was washing. It is very typical of the competitors to assemble the car on the last night, but now Tomi could finish everything in time even though the purchasing of service parts lasted for about 2 weeks!
CAG: What kind of plans do you have for the next year? It is an open secret that a new car is being constructed…
Ádám Kerényi: We would have liked to get a new car as the present one is not any more according to the rules in many places. I am very satisfied with efficiency and motion, but the construction of the motor consumed most of our reserves, therefore getting a new car has been postponed a little bit. Nevertheless, we plan to make changes and will be able to improve the efficiency of the car also for 2015! :D
